Cash Dash is the HUGE cash giveaway that runs across multiple radio stations owned by Bauer Media, including Radio New Zealand, The Edge, ZB Radio (Newstalk ZB), Mai FM, and the More FM. The prizes can reach as high as $600,000!

What a lot of radio listeners don’t realise is that you can enter for FREE via a standard rate phone call, which is free for most mobile phone users. And you can call 200 times for each weekly promotion.

Millions of pounds has been given away on these kind of competitions, and although you might find it hard to believe, people genuinely do win with FREE entries – several members of my Lucky Learners Facebook group have won massive cash prizes in Bauer competitions by using the free entry route!

Unlike the daily entry Bauer comps, for Cash Dash there is just one big prize given away weekly, on a Friday at 5pm.

Paid text entry to Cash Dash costs $2.50 plus standard network rate (so around $2.65 per entry) and you can enter up to 20 times per week – this is 12 individual SMS messages plus you can get an additional 8 entries by paying $10 for a 4 entry bundle, saving you the cost of the 3 extra standard network rate charges (about 45 cents). Or you can enter online up to 200 times per week – this also costs $2.50 for a single entry, but the cost per entry reduces if you pay for multiple entries (200 entries is $40, which is 20 cents each). But PLEASE don’t waste your money doing this – read on to find out how you can enter for free by making a phone call!

CASH DASH
Do people really win Cash Dash with free entries?
Yes they do! The Cash Dash winners are selected completely at random from all entries, regardless of whether they were paid entries or not.

How can I enter Cash Dash for free?
Rather than sending a text message, or paying to enter online, you should chose the phone option. You can call any of these numbers, each one is for a different participating radio station.

Note that these numbers are new as of 4th January 2025!

03 555 0101
03 555 0109
03 555 0111
03 555 0119

The phone call is standard rate – if you have a mobile contract or Pay Monthly bundle that has inclusive minutes, this call should be completely FREE. If you use Pay-As-You-Go then the call may NOT be free, so please check your balance before and after the call to see how much money it costs you.

When you call, an automated response will repeat your mobile phone number back. You have two options here: either wait for the message to finish then press number 1 on your keypad to confirm it’s correct. Or if you don’t press a button at all, your entry will be registered and the call will end (the first option is best for those who are paying attention as the call will be shorter, the second option is better for those who are doing other jobs while calling) Then redial for your next entry!

Why do people pay to enter when you can enter for free?
The $2.50 text entry is widely advertised on air, and easy to do – so there will always be plenty of income to fund the big cash prize each week. Regular radio listeners who aren’t compers probably won’t be reading T&Cs and have no idea that you can call up for free! The free calls also take a lot more time than sending a quick text message.

When should I enter the Cash Dash?
You can enter Cash Dash at any time between 5.10pm on a Friday and 5pm the following Friday.

How many times can I enter Cash Dash?
The maximum changes with each Cash Dash competition, so please check T&Cs.

Online entry – 200 entries maximum
Telephone call (free option) – 200 entries maximum (you will hear a message when you reach this limit!)
$2.50 WIN text message – 12 entries maximum
$10 BANK text message – 2 entries maximum (but each text gives you 4 entries in the draw)
How do I find out the Cash Dash amount?
The Cash Dash amount changes weekly – it will be regularly announced on all participating Bauer radio stations, or simply check the main Cash Dash website

How and when do they choose the winner?
The winning entry is chosen at random from all combined paid and free entries, after the lines close at 5pm on a Friday. Bauer will have the mobile number and exact time of the winning entry, and will let the winner know which of their entries won.

What number do they call winners from?
It’s not known which number they call from, as it will show as ‘witheld number’ on the incoming call. So if you miss a call at 5.05pm on a Friday from a visible number, don’t worry – it definitely wasn’t the Cash Dash call!

What time do they call Cash Dash winners?
The winning Cash Dash call is made just after 5pm on a Friday. The winning call is recorded, edited and played on air around 30 minutes later even though they make it sound like it’s live.

Do I need to remember the correct Cash Dash amount?
No, there is no special phrase or amount to remember for Cash Dash – but you must answer your phone within 30 seconds, or they will choose a new winner!

When does the Cash Dash end?
The Cash Dash competition usually runs for a month or two, but the T&Cs are updated on a week-by-week basis so a final ending date is not usually confirmed in advance. When it ends, other big cash giveaways like Make Me A Winner or Cash Register usually take its place after a short break.

What happens if I win the Cash Dash?
After the initial phone call, winners will receive a second phone call to confirm they have not won a prize valued at $500 or more from Bauer within the previous six months. They will then receive an email confirmation of the win, and may be asked for a photograph or to do on air interviews. To confirm identity, photo ID and proof of address will also be requested. Once everything is validated, the money will usually be transferred into the winner’s bank account within a week.

Where can I see full terms & conditions?

If you have won $500 or more in any Bauer Media Competition over the past 6 months you are not eligible to win. So if you’ve won a big prize on one of the radio stations listed above recently, do not risk entering Cash Dash until your 6 month ‘ban’ is up!
